The new horror movie Psycho Killer<\/a> is now in theaters and it\u2019s not expected to perform well at the box office\u2026 and the reviews are certainly not going to help with that.<\/p>\n

The film has earned shockingly negative reviews and has the rare distinction of having a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It appears that the movie was not screened for critics ahead of its release, so reviews are slowly trickling in now that critics are heading to theaters to catch public screenings. As of 8pm ET on Friday (February 20), the movie has 20 reviews counted on the aggregator website. <\/p>\n

In addition to the dismal critics score, the movie has a 35% score from audiences at the moment.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a synopsis of the movie: \u201cFollowing the brutal murder of her husband, a Kansas highway patrol officer (Georgina Campbell<\/a>) sets out on a journey to track down the perpetrator. As the hunt progresses, she comes to realize the man responsible (James Preston Rogers<\/a>) is a sadistic serial killer, and the depth of his mental depravity and his sinister agenda is more twisted than anyone could have imagined.\u201d<\/p>\n

Screen Rant<\/a> \u2013 1 out of 10 \u2013 \u201cPsycho Killer is filled with stilted and cartoonish performances, and, for all of its genuflecting towards satanic panic and its own seediness, it is an extremely dry and normal affair.\u201d<\/p>\n

TheWrap<\/a> \u2013 Extremely Negative – \u201cSadly, Psycho Killer wasn\u2019t made with style in mind. Actually, it doesn\u2019t seem to have anything on its mind. It\u2019s a rudimentary cat-and-mouse thriller with laughable ideas about Satanism and an absurd, cringy ending.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collider<\/a> \u2013 4 out of 10 \u2013 \u201cArguably the most disappointing thing about Psycho Killer is how you can almost see how this concept could\u2019ve been made into something compelling with the right team behind it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bloody-Disgusting<\/a> \u2013 1.5 out of 5 \u2013 \u201cA series of barebones scenes strung together without much thought does not a feature make. At least not a good one. Psycho Killer never plausibly builds upon its grieving cop versus Satanic serial killer premise, ensuring the journey remains as superficial as it is dull, right through to its baffling conclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Guardian<\/a> \u2013 2 out of 5 \u2013 \u201cThe writer of Seven commits the sin of boring us with this bland horror which should have stayed in development hell where it belongs.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> \u2013 Negative – \u201cThe climax proves thoroughly ridiculous, but by that point you\u2019ve given up on the film anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n

MovieWeb <\/a>– 2 out of 5 \u2013 \u201cThe prospect of Seven screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker returning to the realm of serial killers, backed by a lurid, in-your-face title like Psycho Killer, is an exciting one. Unfortunately, the end result is a misfire that lacks the atmosphere and thoughtfulness of the film that put Walker on the map.\u201d<\/p>\n

The New York Times<\/a> \u2013 Negative \u2013 \u201cOne could be forgiven for thinking that Polone and the screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker wanted to prank audiences, not actually terrify them. It didn\u2019t work.\u201d<\/p>\n
