{"id":295241,"date":"2026-02-21T13:42:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T13:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/295241\/"},"modified":"2026-02-21T13:42:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T13:42:07","slug":"west-suffolk-hospital-warns-visitors-about-rising-norovirus-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/295241\/","title":{"rendered":"West Suffolk Hospital warns visitors about rising norovirus cases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Patients have been asked to consider whether they could use NHS 111 or visit their GP or pharmacist. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, the hospital added that anyone needing emergency treatment should continue to go there. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Staff at the <a href=\"https:\/\/suffolkandnortheastessex.icb.nhs.uk\/news\/stay-alert-to-signs-and-symptoms-of-norovirus\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board, external<\/a> (ICB), which plans and purchases local healthcare services, have also issued advice about the virus as it can rapidly spread.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Lisa Nobes, the ICB&#8217;s nursing director, said: &#8220;Every year there are cases in the community which transfer to the hospital. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Because the virus has an incubation period of several days, people are often unaware that they are carrying it until after they have passed it on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Norovirus is spread by coming into contact with infected people or surfaces.
