It\u2019s been fascinating watching the\u00a0Evil Dead\u00a0franchise mutate over the past decade-and-change, transforming from Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell\u2019s goofball exploration of their personal horror mythology\u2014an idea that got put through its paces pretty thoroughly via the Ash Vs. Evil Dead\u00a0TV show\u2014into a more loose incubator for Raimi to cultivate horror talent. Fede \u00c1lvarez and Lee Cronin both came up in part through directing standalone Evil Dead\u00a0movies (in 2013<\/a>, and then with\u00a0Evil Dead Rise<\/a> in 2023), while Infested\u00a0director S\u00e9bastien Vani\u010dek is next up on the block with this summer\u2019s Evil Dead Burn. Now, Warner Bros. has confirmed that the horror machine is going to just keep on rolling, releasing a tiny video today confirming that\u00a0another\u00a0Evil Dead\u00a0movie, titled\u00a0Evil Dead Wrath, has just entered production.<\/p>\n

Given that we still don\u2019t have any clue what\u00a0Burn\u2014out on July 24, 2026\u2014is about, it\u2019s not entirely surprising to note that we have even less idea of a premise for\u00a0Wrath. (Undead monsters and ill-advised tape recordings will presumably feature.) What it\u00a0does\u00a0have is another director hand-picked by Raimi, in this case Francis Galluppi, who got strong reviews for his crime thriller debut The Last Stop In Yuma County<\/a>. And, honestly, there\u2019s something genuinely charming about seeing Raimi\u2014who famously dragged himself into Hollywood by running Campbell over repeatedly in the Tennessee woods while they and their buddies were making their own movies together in their youths\u2014using the franchise as a way to get up-and-coming genre directors like he once was in front of much bigger audiences. (Meanwhile, the simple fact that Galluppi has been making his name in various flavors of neo-Westerns raises a lot\u00a0of interesting questions about what direction this latest film might be pointed in.)<\/p>\n
