Christina Applegate<\/a> is sharing a painful part of her past.<\/p>\n

The Bad Moms star candidly opens up about overcoming the most difficult moments<\/a> of her childhood in her forthcoming memoir You With the Sad Eyes, including being molested by a babysitter when she was 5.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew every part of it was wrong,\u201d Christina told People<\/a> in an interview published Feb. 25. \u201cI felt sick and scared and sad. I never fully felt comfortable being touched, and that\u2019s true still.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never felt comfortable with it my whole life, really,\u201d she added, \u201cand all because of that girl forcing me to do something I barely understood but that I knew was shameful.\u201d<\/p>\n

In her memoir, releasing March 3, Christina also details her mom\u2019s struggle<\/a> with heroin addiction, as well as the physical abuse Christina endured form one of her mom\u2019s boyfriends, affected her as a child.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I had kind of the worst situation from 3 to 7,\u201d she shared. \u201cBut there was stuff like that going on in all our homes. Single moms, men coming in and out, drugs.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the Married\u2026with Children actress\u2014who shares 15-year-old daughter Sadie<\/a> with husband Martyn LeNoble\u2014it was important to chronicle her experience as \u201ca little girl with sad eyes who ended up becoming Christina Applegate,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd she still has those sad eyes<\/a>. But she\u2019s a stronger, different, resilient human being.”<\/p>\n

And putting pen to paper has helped Christina process some of her emotional scars.<\/p>\n

“To be honest, it’s actually opened up so many wounds, and it’s okay because I’m a strong girl, I’m going to get through it,” she said. “But it wasn’t like get to the other end and be like, ‘Ah, now it’s out.’ It was the stuff that I’d never talked about. The stuff that was behind closed doors and that no one but the closest people in my life<\/a> have ever known happened.”<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not to say sharing her story with the world will be easy. Still, the multiple sclerosis advocate<\/a> hopes that her being candid can help others.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause a lot of it is so heavy, I had someone say to me, \u2018Are you doing this because you\u2019re being a victim?\u2019\u201d the Emmy winner explained. \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018No, I\u2019m empowering other people out there.\u2019 At least I hope to.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cI hope that some girl or boy or anyone who\u2019s gone through being molested or beaten or anything I\u2019ve gone through can go, \u2018Oh my God, okay. I\u2019m going to be okay.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
