Young people in Glenorchy now have access to upgraded mental health facilities, with a revamped waiting area and new sensory room unveiled at Pulse Youth Health Centre.<\/p>\n

Funded by Variety \u2013 the Children\u2019s Charity Tasmania, the project has transformed the clinical space into a youth-friendly hub where teens can feel safe, connect with support, charge devices or grab a snack.<\/p>\n

The dedicated sensory room offers a calm space for young people experiencing sensory overload or emotional distress, and will also be used for counselling tailored to youth needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen young people feel safe and welcomed, they are more likely to engage with support and take positive steps towards their wellbeing,\u201d Variety Tasmania CEO Mohammad Aldergham said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project is about removing barriers and creating spaces where young people feel seen, respected and comfortable enough to reach out for help.\u201d<\/p>\n

The upgrades are aimed at easing the growing needs in Glenorchy, where many young people face disadvantage and have a limited number of youth-friendly spaces.<\/p>\n

Local artist Stella from MidnightMothMakers created a mural for the space, supported by Pulse\u2019s Creative Arts Worker Dexter Rosengrave.<\/p>\n

The design reflects growth and emotional expression.<\/p>\n

Youth Health South Clinical Lead Grace Duggan said the waiting area had evolved beyond its traditional role.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a low-barrier space where young people can pause, connect with peers and feel safe even if they are not ready to formally engage with services,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
