Attendees at the recent Queensland Raceway round of the Repco Supercars Championship may have spotted Quinn with Josie Spillane brandishing a piece of paper with \u2018Project 29\u2019 and the Highlands logo.<\/p>\n

Spillane is the CEO of Quinn\u2019s circuits \u2013 Hampton Downs Motorsport Park, Taupo Motorsport Park, and Highlands Motorsport Park.<\/p>\n

Highlands was beaten by Ruapuna Motorsport Park in Christchurch for the first South Island round of Supercars in 2026 on a three-year deal. That leaves the door open for a switch to Highlands from 2029, something Quinn says Spillane is pushing for.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is one of the best people I\u2019ve ever employed, and she\u2019s the CEO, so her mission \u2013 it\u2019s her mission, not mine \u2013 is to get the V8s to come to Highlands in 2029,\u201d Quinn told Speedcafe.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo that\u2019s her Project 29. It\u2019s maybe a tall order, I don\u2019t know, but there is a lot of water to go under the bridge between now and then.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the V8s are in a good place. I think that if James (Warburton, Supercars CEO) can get permission and get some wind in his sails, I think he\u2019ll do a far, far better job than has been done in the last five to 10 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m all about supporting people that want to do shit, so Josie\u2019s working on that one. That\u2019s Josie\u2019s Project 29.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quinn commended Spillane for getting on the front foot with her vision.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s putting out there, she\u2019s telling you fair and square that that\u2019s what she wants to do. So we\u2019ll see,\u201d said Quinn.<\/p>\n

Spillane recently visited One Raceway in New South Wales. Quinn said the Highlands model was attractive to new and existing circuits in Australia.<\/p>\n

The three New Zealand circuits have a variety of arrive-and-drive membership models, with onsite accommodation and car storage.<\/p>\n

There are several circuits in Australia following suit with resort-style facilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cJosie has been talking to some of the tracks over here, like One Raceway. They\u2019re trying to find out how to do it, the way we\u2019ve done it, or give them clues,\u201d said Quinn.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very open. We tell them what we do and how we\u2019ve done it and wish them all the best.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut they\u2019ve got to acknowledge that Highlands is a wee bit of a special place. It\u2019s not just a racetrack, it\u2019s a different kind of environment, but we\u2019re there to help whoever wants to listen.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Highlands Motorsport Park.
