Northern shift manager Gareth Lewis said the incident involved two cars, one of which was on fire when crews arrived.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were no persons trapped,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\"AA car erupted in flames after a two-vehicle crash on Totara St in Mount Maunganui on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Hato Hone St John said it was notified of the crash at 10.42pm and sent three ambulances, a rapid response unit and a manager to the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur crews assessed and treated three patients, who were transported to Tauranga Hospital in a moderate condition,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

About an hour later, emergency services were called to a second crash in Freyberg St, \u014ct\u016bmoetai, after a vehicle struck a tree.<\/p>\n

Lewis said Fire and Emergency received the call at 11.53pm and sent three fire trucks from the same stations.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn arrival we confirmed it was a single car crash and there were no persons trapped. We assisted police and ambulance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
