All Blacks\u00a0halfback\u00a0Cortez Ratima has extended his commitment to New Zealand Rugby and the Gallagher Chiefs through to the end of 2028.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old said it was an easy decision, especially after the recent birth of his second son.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a new baby at home and being in one place and having a stable home life is good for our family,\u201d he said\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ratima is a product of Hamilton Boys High School and has played 38 games for Waikato and 60 for the Gallagher Chiefs since his\u00a0Super Rugby\u00a0debut against the Crusaders in 2022. Two years later he played his first\u00a0match\u00a0for the All Blacks, against England, and\u00a0he\u00a0has gone\u00a0on to play 21\u00a0Tests.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ratima said with the Rugby World Cup getting closer, competing for a place in the All Blacks was a huge motivator. As was the culture at the Gallagher Chiefs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI love this club and how they have supported me and my family. I\u2019m loving what Jono and the other coaches are doing and there\u2019s no place I\u2019d rather be.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gallagher Chiefs\u00a0Head\u00a0Coach Jono Gibbes was delighted Ratima was staying with the club.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great to have a player of Cortez\u2019s ability stick with us. It shows his faith in what we are doing and where we are heading, which is terrific.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0also a reflection on the culture we have here at the club.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cCortez is a talented young man and it is exciting to know he and his wh\u0101nau will be a part of the Gallagher Chiefs for another three years, at least.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
