Warhol has been described as one of the most influential post-war American artists and a leading figure in the Pop Art movement.

His collection coming to Wolverhampton will include early drawings from his time as a commercial illustrator in the 1950s, and iconic painted screenprints and photographic works featuring Warhol’s artists, friends, filmmakers and celebrities.

Images of Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, and Warhol himself feature alongside icons of American consumerism, as well as symbols of the artist’s fascination with mortality.

Councillor Chris Burden said, “Hosting an exhibition by world-renowned artist Andy Warhol here in our city is a testament to Wolverhampton’s growing reputation as a cultural destination, and I encourage everyone – especially our young people, who can visit free of charge – to come and be inspired by the strength and spirit of Warhol’s work.”

Warhol has been described as one of the most influential post-war American artists and a leading figure in…

[31
442,498,499,500,501,156,111,139,69
post-310744","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-arts-and-design","tag-arts","tag-arts-and-design","tag-artsanddesign","tag-artsdesign","tag-design","tag-entertainment","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nz
["GET
