{"id":310976,"date":"2026-03-03T13:01:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T13:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/310976\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T13:01:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T13:01:10","slug":"fog-architecture-designs-yuspa-spa-in-beijing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/310976\/","title":{"rendered":"FOG Architecture designs YUSPA spa in Beijing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chinese studio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/fog-architecture\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FOG Architecture<\/a> has designed warm and relaxing interiors for YUSPA in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/beijing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Beijing<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/china\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">China<\/a>, using subtle transitions of lighting and materials.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fogarchitecture.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FOG Architecture<\/a> designed the YUSPA retail <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/spa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">spa<\/a> within the Sanlitun shopping district to give customers a multi-sensory experience.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2301527\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/fog-architecture-yuspa-wellness-interiors-beijing-china_dezeen_1704_col_1-852x1136.jpg\" alt=\"YUSPA by FOG Architecture\" width=\"1704\" height=\"2272\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>The entrance to the YUSPA is a corridor leading to a water feature<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The design guides customers into a relaxed and immersive state through gradual changes in light, materials, and circulation, all focusing on healing as its core theme,&#8221; explained FOG Architecture.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The goal is not to create a superficial &#8216;quiet place&#8217;, but to construct a multi-sensory, rhythmically distinct spatial experience system.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2301529 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/fog-architecture-yuspa-wellness-interiors-beijing-china_dezeen_1704_col_3-852x1136.jpg\" alt=\"YUSPA by FOG Architecture\" width=\"1704\" height=\"2272\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>A feature wall with back-lit lighting illuminates the reception area<\/p>\n<p>A long entrance corridor ends in a water feature with access to the product display area on the right and a reception area with seating on the left.<\/p>\n<p>The reception area is lined with a feature wall with back-lit lighting showcasing essential oils used in the spa.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2301530 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/fog-architecture-yuspa-wellness-interiors-beijing-china_dezeen_1704_col_4-852x1136.jpg\" alt=\"YUSPA by FOG Architecture\" width=\"1704\" height=\"2272\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Stone and copper are used for product display<\/p>\n<p>At the centre of the display area is a long <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/copper\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">copper<\/a> table used to present a series of ready-to-spray essential oils. A series of stone columns linked by copper shelves are used to display more products.<\/p>\n<p>Different treatment areas are accessed via independent circulation routes to ensure privacy. Each area is accompanied by a changing room and showers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2301526 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/fog-architecture-yuspa-wellness-interiors-beijing-china_dezeen_1704_col_0-852x1136.jpg\" alt=\"YUSPA by FOG Architecture\" width=\"1704\" height=\"2272\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>The entrance of the spa uses bright light<\/p>\n<p>According to FOG Architecture, lighting was the primary design tool in this project.<\/p>\n<p>The public area uses bright light, highlighting the presented products, while deeper into the spa, lighting is increasingly dimmed with only the floor illuminated in the most intimate spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Sheer curtains and electric sliding doors were used as partitions that also control light, ensuring privacy without fully closed off spaces.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2301536 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/fog-architecture-yuspa-wellness-interiors-beijing-china_dezeen_1704_col_10-852x1136.jpg\" alt=\"YUSPA by FOG Architecture\" width=\"1704\" height=\"2272\"   loading=\"lazy\"\/>Scent is released from the table in the product area<\/p>\n<p>The materials used throughout the spa were designed to create a balance of warm and cool tones.<\/p>\n<p>A concrete base provides a continuous backdrop throughout the space, while copper accents create highlighting details and wooden furniture was used to soften the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The overall design is restrained and neutral, avoiding excessive decoration that could overstimulate the senses and disrupt the experience,&#8221;
