Two people have been arrested and an illegally held firearm recovered following a shooting in Auckland’s Papakura on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Police heard gunshots while conducting patrols in the Clevedon Rd area at around 11.20am and came across a man with a gunshot injury<\/a> shortly after.<\/p>\n

The man was taken to hospital in a moderate condition and had since been discharged.<\/p>\n

Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Taylor said a 23-year-old man and 47-year-old woman had been charged jointly with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and unlawful possession of a restricted weapon.<\/p>\n

“The male has been remanded in custody and will reappear in Papakura District Court on March 26 and the female will reappear on March 16,” he said.<\/p>\n

Initial indications were that the victim and offenders were known to each other, he added.<\/p>\n

“There is no risk to the wider community.”<\/p>\n

Police and the armed offenders squad had also carried out inquiries at a Grove Rd address on Saturday but no arrests were made at the time.<\/p>\n
