A tanker was hit by a \u201clarge explosion\u201d in waters off Kuwait, causing an oil spill, British maritime security agency UKMTO said today, as the United States-Israel war on Iran paralysed Gulf shipping.<\/p>\n

\n Iran\u2019s elite Revolutionary Guards have said they had \u201ccomplete control\u201d of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial
\n chokepoint into the Gulf and one of the world\u2019s most vital shipping routes for energy.\n <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Master of a tanker at anchor, reports witnessing and hearing a large explosion on the port side then seeing a small craft leave the vicinity\u201d off the Gulf state\u2019s Mubarak Al-Kabeer area, UKMTO posted on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is oil in the water coming from a cargo tank which could have some environmental impact\u201d.<\/p>\n
