Following our previous look at an opening for a Graduate Intern at the Port of Seattle<\/a>, we are using this week\u2019s edition of our Job Highlights series<\/a> to explore an open role on Archinect Jobs for a Project Manager at 3XN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The role, based in New York City, calls for an individual who will \u201clead and coordinate projects through all phases, including schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.\u201d Among the requirements are a professional degree in architecture and a minimum of ten years of experience. High proficiency in Revit and Rhino is also requested.<\/p>\n

The open role at 3XN offers us the opportunity to explore some of the major projects to emerge from the office. Earlier this year, we covered the firm\u2019s completion of the largest fish market in the southern hemisphere<\/a>, in Sydney, Australia. Arguably, the defining feature of the scheme is a\u00a0200,000-square-foot undulating roof canopy, constructed from\u00a0glued laminated timber\u00a0beams and aluminum cassettes integrated with photovoltaic panels.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, the firm recently revealed designs for the new University of Toronto Rotman Commerce Building<\/a>. The structure\u2019s design is guided by the principle that optimum learning is supported by flexibility, transparency, and interaction. As one moves through the building, the social levels shift, from the lower levels to the more private and quiet areas towards the top.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In South Korea, the firm has recently designed the\u00a0new Chungnam Art Center<\/a>\u00a0featuring a sloping roof plane folded into its diagonal axis and then arched at points to define the different programmatic functions below.\u00a0In Baltimore, meanwhile, the studio envisioned a new destination for the Inner Harbor<\/a>, drawing inspiration from the sails dotting the city\u2019s waterfront.<\/p>\n

In 2023, 3XN\u2019s \u2018upcycled\u2019 Quay Quarter Tower in Sydney was awarded the CTBUH Best Tall Building Worldwide<\/a>, one year after winning the 2022 World Building of the Year<\/a> at the World Architecture Festival. The 46-story Sydney tower provides a remarkable example of adaptive reuse to the industry, having retained some 65% of the original 1976 structure and a reported 95% of its core in the construction process that was completed in April of 2022. The project also earned 3XN a place<\/a> on Fast Company\u2019s \u2018world\u2019s most innovative companies\u2019 list.<\/p>\n
