{"id":314626,"date":"2026-03-05T17:46:15","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T17:46:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/314626\/"},"modified":"2026-03-05T17:46:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T17:46:15","slug":"nigeria-and-ethiopia-listed-among-countries-to-benefit-from-dangotes-1-billion-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/314626\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria and Ethiopia listed among countries to benefit from Dangote\u2019s $1 billion plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n        With the $1 billion investment, the cement manufacturer, in the span of four years, intends to boost production capacity by 45% to 80 million tons.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        This information was disclosed by the company\u2019s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Gbenga Fapohunda, on Wednesday, during an investor conference call in the country\u2019s commercial hub, Lagos.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        He noted that the fund would be channeled in \u201cNigeria, Ethiopia, and some other countries.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        In February, the company disclosed that it had <a href=\"https:\/\/africa.businessinsider.com\/local\/markets\/dangote-signs-dollar1b-deal-with-chinese-firm-to-expand-projects-across-seven-african\/2lp317c\" id=\"69e6498e-5e84-408c-83ba-252939202c59\" data-link-role-code=\"open_new_tab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">signed a $1 billion agreement<\/a> with China\u2019s Sinoma International Engineering to construct new plants and expand existing facilities across Africa.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        This new initiative follows a similar plan established by Dangote to increase exports of cement and clinker to 10 million tons by 2030, in contrast to 1.4 million tons in 2025.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        Dangote Cement recently reported an 18.6 per cent rise in cement and clinker exports from Nigeria, dispatching 34 shiploads of clinker to Cameroon and Ghana during the year.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        As seen on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-03-04\/dangote-cement-to-spend-1-billion-to-boost-capacity-by-2030?srnd=homepage-africa\" id=\"06bbab6b-fc02-4b87-b5c1-2cff2ab5ae31\" data-link-role-code=\"open_new_tab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a>, the company\u2019s CFO noted that the expansion plan would be financed with operating cash flow, supplier credit, commercial papers, bonds, and bank loans.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        This initiative had earlier been spoken about by the company&#8217;s Group Managing Director, Arvind Pathak, who noted that the cement company would continue to commission new capacity and advance projects across several African markets.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        \u201cWe are confident in our growth trajectory and our ability to capitalise on Africa\u2019s robust cement demand fundamentals,\u201d Mr Pathak said in an earnings release filed with the Nigerian Exchange.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        \u201cWe will continue commissioning new capacity, including the transformational 6 metric tonne per annum (Mta) Itori plant, while advancing expansion projects in Ethiopia, Cameroon, South Africa, Zambia, and Senegal.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        A few days back, Dangote Cement reported its highest profit on record.\n    <\/p>\n<p>        Dangote Cement&#8217;s recent milestones <\/p>\n<p>                    <img width=\"790\" height=\"527\" alt=\"A Dangote Cement Plc logo stands on a barrier at the under-construction Dangote Industries Ltd. The N99.92 billion Series 2 CP has a tenor of 265 days and will mature on August 12, 2026.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        Both instruments were issued at a discount and will be repaid at their par value of N1,000 upon maturity.
