{"id":318773,"date":"2026-03-08T06:19:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T06:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/318773\/"},"modified":"2026-03-08T06:19:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T06:19:10","slug":"las-vegas-gets-its-first-stand-alone-fine-art-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/318773\/","title":{"rendered":"Las Vegas gets its first stand-alone fine art museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LAS VEGAS (<a href=\"http:\/\/fox5vegas.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"http:\/\/fox5vegas.com\/\">FOX5<\/a>) \u2014 The Southern Nevada Art Museum opened its doors to the public Friday night during First Friday in the Arts District, marking the debut of Las Vegas\u2019 first stand-alone fine art museum. The museum, located at 1029 S. Main St., will now operate seven days a week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The collection spans 10,000 square feet and includes more than 500 pieces from 88 artists, ranging from 15th century double-sided manuscript leaflets to modern works using acetone and dye on aluminum.<\/p>\n<p>Works range from old masters to local artists<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Executive Director and curator Chris Davin said the collection was assembled through a nonprofit organization and through artwork he personally collected over the years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">From Dal\u00ed to Goya, Rembrandt to Renoir, all on the same wall, you will find some of the best known artists throughout the world in this collection. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Visitors can view multiple works from Pablo Picasso alongside pieces from local artists including Ziggy, Michael Godard, Donovan Fitzgerald and Kat Taz. Davin said the museum covers modern abstract art, cubism and impressionism.<\/p>\n<p>Museum fills a gap in Las Vegas cultural offerings<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Davin said Las Vegas has galleries where works can be purchased but lacked a dedicated venue to showcase the history of fine art.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019ve got the Mob Museum, we\u2019ve got the Neon Museum, we\u2019ve got the History Museum, but we don\u2019t have something to showcase the history of art in Vegas,\u201d Davin said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Davin said access to original works by artists such as Salvador Dal\u00ed allows visitors to study brushstrokes and technique firsthand.<\/p>\n<p>Grand opening set for May<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">An official grand opening celebration is scheduled for May.
