A holidaymaker has claimed Ryanair served him the ‘worst plane food ever’ on a flight home.<\/a><\/p>\n

Declan and Claire Minogue, 61, enjoyed a relaxing trip to Faro, Portugal and returned to Dublin on July 21.<\/p>\n

However, not everything went smoothly, and things took a turn when the married couple ordered food on the flight.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Declan paid \u00a35.90 for a ham and cheese panini and was about to tuck in before he realised how disappointing it was.<\/p>\n

He claims he was ‘stunned’ to find there was just one piece of ham inside as well as the ‘tiniest bit of cheese’ with no butter.<\/p>\n

The holidaymaker, from Dublin, Ireland, described it as ‘bland’ and\u00a0compared it to ‘something out of Oliver Twist’.<\/p>\n

Declan slammed:\u00a0‘It was the worst airplane food ever. It was a massive rip off. I was shocked when I saw it.<\/p>\n

‘I got it and I opened it and couldn’t believe it so I took a picture. It had two slices of ham and the tiniest bit of cheese and the cheese was like butter. There was no substance to it. I was stunned.’<\/p>\n

He went on the describe the sandwich’s lack of flavour and admitted he was still hungry afterwards.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The father of two continued: ‘It was like something out of Oliver Twist. You wouldn’t be asking for more than that.<\/p>\n

‘It didn’t taste good. It was very bland but I was starving so what could I do. You wouldn’t really think you can mess up a ham and cheese sandwich.<\/p>\n

‘I left the flight feeling quite hungry and had to get something from the airport.<\/p>\n

‘I know it’s a budget airline but you’d expect better service. I wouldn’t buy anything on Ryanair’s flights again.<\/a> The standards are a disaster.<\/p>\n

‘I didn’t complain about it, which I should have. My other half wouldn’t let me.’<\/p>\n

Declan shared a photo of the sandwich on social media captioned ‘shocking and insulting’.<\/p>\n

In the photo you can see the opened sandwich, which has only one slice of ham cut in half and a small amount of melted cheese.<\/p>\n

The ingredients barely seem to cover half of the bread.<\/p>\n

Users took to the comments to express their shock at the ‘disgusting’ meal, while\u00a0some warned to ‘never buy food on board flights’.<\/p>\n

One penned: ‘Never buy the food on board. Bring your own and cold drinks. Much nicer.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Daily Mail approached Ryanair for comment.<\/p>\n
