A controversial comment from Bec<\/a> rocks the Married at First Sight<\/a> Retreat Week<\/a> \u2013 but Rachel says what viewers didn\u2019t see on camera was the behind-the-scenes \u201ccampaign\u201d that left her feeling even more betrayed.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was going from room to room talking to other cast members trying to make out I was overreacting,\u201d Rachel, 35, tells TV WEEK<\/a>. \u201cThat felt a little bit campaign-y. That\u2019s what upset me. She wasn\u2019t even trying to understand or reflect on why I was upset.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comment Rachel was accused of \u201coverreacting\u201d to came during a toast<\/a> on the first night of the Retreat, when Bec was celebrating milestones across the couples.<\/p>\n

Referencing Stella and Filip, she said, \u201cWe\u2019ve had I love you\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

About Juliette and Joel, she added, \u201cWe\u2019ve had couples come back from the brink of hell.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then, turning to Rachel and Steven, she joked: \u201cAnd we\u2019ve had finger banging.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTo make a joke of it like that just felt really disrespectful,\u201d Rachel explains. \u201cIt made me feel stupid.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Rachel says the fallout went far beyond a single comment. Bec\u2019s<\/a> alleged \u201ccampaign\u201d against the team leader didn\u2019t just destroy their friendship \u2013 it also had a ripple effect on Rachel and Steven\u2019s relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt definitely rattled things for Steven and I and put a bit of a wedge between us,\u201d she reveals. \u201cIt does take us back and we did need to work through it. We shared something and celebrated it, and then it became a bit of a joke.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt puts your relationship in a spotlight and when we\u2019ve already got someone who struggles with insecurities around intimacy \u2013 well of course that\u2019s going to affect our relationship. Of course that\u2019s going to bring that part of our relationship to a halt because we no longer feel comfortable to be intimate. We didn\u2019t want to be made fun of again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trust was shaken further when Rachel later learned that Bec and Steven had privately discussed putting the comment behind them \u2013 without telling her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was blindsided,\u201d Rachel says. \u201cI cried a lot. I was so depleted and came back from the Retreat a shell of a human.\u201d<\/p>\n
