The stand-up comedian<\/a>, 54, and Hines, 60, previously co-hosted their podcast, Tig & Cheryl: True Story, from 2020 to 2023. In that time, Kennedy, 72, launched his presidential campaign, which he later suspended before endorsing Donald Trump.<\/a><\/p>\n During a recent episode of MS NOW\u2019s The Best People with Nicolle Wallace podcast, Notaro said that while working with Hines gave her some of the \u201cdeepest, hardest laughs,\u201d she ultimately decided to quit their podcast because of Kennedy\u2019s controversial views.<\/a> <\/p>\n \u201cMy friendship with her predated Bobby,\u201d the Oscar-nominated comedian said, \u201cand there were things that he thought and felt that I didn\u2019t agree with, but he didn\u2019t have the platform he got during the pandemic.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that I needed to stop doing the podcast, because it was so ridiculous, it was so stupid \u2014 our show \u2014 that it was hard to be doing that when he was gaining momentum and speaking,\u201d she added. All rights reserved.)<\/p>\n Notaro said it got to a point where people would \u201cinterrupt my stand-up shows and yell that, \u2018Bobby is crazy.\u2019\u201d She eventually confronted Hines about how Kennedy\u2019s divisive platform was beginning to affect her career. <\/p>\n \u201cI was telling Cheryl, \u2018I know it\u2019s a small percentage that pushes back online or yells out at shows,\u2019 but I was like, \u2018Man, this is not my world. I don\u2019t do this. I don\u2019t want to be a part of this.\u2019 And she was like, \u2018I understand.\u2019 But she wanted to keep doing the podcast, but I had to step away,\u201d Notaro said, clarifying, \u201cbut I loved her so much.\u201d<\/p>\n The comedian shared that despite distancing herself publicly, she continued reaching out to Hines to \u201csend her love and support, because I didn\u2019t know what was going on behind closed doors, because things shifted very severely.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd she would respond very pleasantly,\u201d Notaro noted, \u201cbut then I realized one day, she doesn\u2019t ever reach out to me anymore. She responds to me, but she doesn\u2019t reach out to me. But I had to shake myself out of denial that, \u2018Oh, she\u2019s gone,\u2019 and, \u2018OK, I need to let this go. I need to let it go.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Notaro addressed claims that she \u201cdumped [Hines] and left her in the dust because of Bobby,\u201d explaining that she was \u201ctrying to be a friend to her even though I didn\u2019t feel like I could continue with the podcast.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut it\u2019s been very strange,\u201d she said of their fallout, \u201cand I think I\u2019ve moved past the confusion and sadness.\u201d<\/p>\n The Independent has contacted Hines\u2019s representative for comment. <\/p>\n Hines and Kennedy have been married since 2014. Their relationship has also caused friction <\/a>between Hines and her former Curb Your Enthusiasm co-star, Larry David.
