HBO Max<\/a> added nearly 100 new movies to its already impressive library at the start of March 2026 (89, to be precise), meaning movie buffs have a ton of new releases to keep them occupied throughout the month.<\/p>\n

Now, if you ask me, that’s a pretty daunting number of films to sort through, especially when you consider all the other best streaming services<\/a> have also bolstered their ranks with new additions, too. So, if you can’t quite face sifting through everything new on HBO Max in March 2026<\/a>, allow me to step in. I’ve just scrolled through that list of new movies and picked out five that have earned a minimum of 90% or higher on the review aggregator, Rotten Tomatoes, which is usually a pretty strong indicator that any given movie’s worth a watch. Sure, you can’t guarantee a high score will mean any of the below picks will match your personal tastes, but a 90% or higher on RT at the bare minimum means most movie critics liked what they saw.<\/p>\n

This month’s HBO Max additions are particularly impressive. There were plenty of acclaimed releases to choose from, so whittling the list down wasn’t easy, but here are the five I’d recommend right now.<\/p>\n

If it’s a classic or a thriller that you’re after, look no further than “All The President’s Men.” All these years later, Alan J. Pakula’s acclaimed Watergate movie is still regularly celebrated as one of the best movies about journalism.<\/p>\n

The Oscar-winning movie adapts the 1974 book about the scandal from Washington Post journalists Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, and follows the two reporters (played brilliantly by Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford, respectively) as they investigate and report the story that eventually brought down Nixon’s presidency.<\/p>\n

‘Call Me By Your Name’ (2017)<\/p>\n

Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me By Your Name” is the highest-rated movie I’m highlighting this month. This acclaimed queer romantic drama takes us to Italy in 1983. 17-year-old Elio Perlman (Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet) is holidaying with his family at their villa, where he meets Oliver (Armie Hammer), a doctoral student working for his father (Michael Stuhlbarg), and this moving, tender coming-of-age love story chronicles how their ensuing summer romance.<\/p>\n

The Daniels’ independent action\/comedy-drama “Everything Everywhere All at Once” made such a huge wave when it hit the big screen back in 2022. This wild, multiversal odyssey is at times absurd, funny, action-packed, and packs in some big emotional swings, and it comes well recommended, too. Not only did it earn major praise from critics and moviegoers, but it scooped up no fewer than seven of the eleven Oscars it was nominated for, including Best Picture.<\/p>\n

What to read next<\/p>\n

If you dodged it at the time, the movie revolves around Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh), an ordinary middle-aged woman whose life is changed forever during a tense meeting with an IRS officer. What should be an ordinary day turns into an epic adventure, with Evelyn connecting with her other, parallel universe selves and deploying their skills from across many parallel universes to save the world.<\/p>\n

If it’s all-out action you want, nothing could fit the bill more than “John Wick: Chapter 4.” I can’t think of any film that is so calibrated to meet our appetite for carnage; this is three hours of sustained, brutal fun.<\/p>\n

It includes some of my all-time favorite moments from the franchise (that’s why it topped my ranking of all five “John Wick” films ). <\/a>“John Wick: Chapter 4” puts Keanu Reeves’ legendary hitman through the wringer more than ever and serves up some of the very best on-screen action I’ve ever seen in the process. At three hours long, it’ll swallow up an entire evening, but “Chapter 4” is an absorbing action film that’s both epic in length and scale, and I adore it.<\/p>\n

Finally, let’s round things out with James Cameron’s classic ’80s sci-fi action movie, “The Terminator.” It kicked this franchise off with a brilliant first feature wherein Arnold Schwarzenegger’s titular cyborg assassin travels back from the future to 1984 to hunt down and kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), because her unborn son will lead the humans to victory in the ensuing fight between man and machines. Luckily, Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) has also been sent back in time to protect her. Like some of the other entries on this very round-up, it’s a full-throttle ride, and one that’s stayed plenty entertaining in the years since, and laid the groundwork for a bombastic sequel years down the line.<\/p>\n
