He was put before the Wait\u0101kere District Court on charges including abduction for sex, impedes breathing and injuring with intent to injure.<\/p>\n

Police successfully opposed bail, said Goldie. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe can reassure the wider public that he is not in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been a sensitive and complex investigation, and our team has worked quickly to progress our enquiry and identify a person of interest,\u201d Goldie said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has included analysis of CCTV footage between central Auckland and West Auckland.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolice completed a detailed scene examination in part of the Cornwallis earlier this week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Goldie said the charges speak to \u201ca distressing ordeal that the victim has been through\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to support her through the next part of the process.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to acknowledge the woman who came to the victim\u2019s aid, and others who have assisted us in progressing the investigation.\u201d <\/p>\n

Further charges can not be ruled out, said Goldie. <\/p>\n

Police inquiries will continue. <\/p>\n
