After unearthing a 2013 Today<\/a> segment showing Nancy Guthrie<\/a>\u2018s bedroom, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly<\/a> has said the NBC morning show encourages its hosts to \u201covershare,\u201d which can be \u201cvery dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nancy, the 84-year-old mother of\u00a0Today\u2019s\u00a0Savannah Guthrie<\/a>, has been\u00a0missing since January 31,<\/a> when police believe she\u00a0was abducted\u00a0from her home in Tucson, Arizona. On Wednesday\u2019s (March 11) edition of SiriusXM\u2019s\u00a0The Megyn Kelly Show<\/a>,\u00a0Kelly played footage from the 2013 segment<\/a>, in which Nancy talked the hosts through her daily bed-making routine.<\/p>\n

Kelly suggested the suspect(s) could have analyzed the layout of Nancy\u2019s bedroom from the footage and used it as a \u201croad map\u201d to commit the crime.<\/p>\n

She went on to share her own experiences of working on the Today show, saying, \u201cThis is the thing, you guys. I mentioned this to you, but having been at the\u00a0Today\u00a0show for a short time, they do really lean on you to overshare.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelly\u2019s NBC show aired in Today\u2018s third hour slot from September 2017 to October 2018. Her show was canceled<\/a> after she made on-air remarks defending the use of blackface as part of Halloween costumes. NBC terminated her employment in January 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey leaned on me to overshare,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt\u2019s not born out of nefarious intent. They want the audience to feel like they know you. And I get that, but you have to be really careful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelly added, \u201cI think all of the\u00a0Today\u00a0show hosts show their children and their faces on TV. Certainly, Savannah does,\u00a0Hoda [Kotb],<\/a> and it\u2019s very dangerous. It\u2019s dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n

She did state, however, that \u201cThe mom is a different story,\u201d admitting that she also showed her mom on her show. \u201cBecause prior to this, nobody ever thought their mom could be potentially endangered, you know? This is a whole new kind of crime.\u201d<\/p>\n

Savannah\u2019s family has frequently appeared on Today, including her mom and her children. Last February, her kids,<\/a> daughter Vale (11) and son Charley (9) appeared in a segment about her children\u2019s book, Mostly What God Does is Love You, which included Vale interviewing her mom.<\/p>\n

Nancy has appeared on Today several times since Savannah became a co-host in 2011. She joined her daughter for a cooking segment in May 2016, took part in a wine-tasting segment in April 2019, and appeared in a 2015 segment where she and Savannah traveled to Melbourne, Australia\u2014Savannah\u2019s birthplace.<\/p>\n

Last month, Savannah and her family\u00a0offered a $1 million reward<\/a>\u00a0for information that leads to Nancy\u2019s recovery. The FBI is offering a separate $200,000 reward, $100,000 of which was donated anonymously, for information that could lead to an arrest and conviction.<\/p>\n
