{"id":336723,"date":"2026-03-19T02:58:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T02:58:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/336723\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T02:58:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T02:58:11","slug":"new-exhibit-brings-western-art-indoors-at-museum-of-outdoor-arts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/336723\/","title":{"rendered":"New exhibit brings Western art indoors at Museum of Outdoor Arts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. \u2014 The Museum of Outdoor Arts, known for its free outdoor sculptures in places like Marjorie Park, is opening a new, indoor exhibition titled \u201cBeyond the Western Horizon\u201d on March 19.<\/p>\n<p>The show, on view in the museum\u2019s<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/moaonline.org\/madden-gallery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> Madden Gallery<\/a> through July 31, brings together about 20 contemporary Western artists. Organizer Cynthia Madden Leitner, the museum\u2019s founder and director, said the work isn\u2019t limited to one vision of the West.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt isn\u2019t set on one genre of the West or one specific theme,\u201d Madden Leitner said. \u201cIt\u2019s also about change, and the West being a frontier\u2026 You\u2019ll see trains and cars and automobiles, but it\u2019s also about that quintessential tradition of the horse and the rider and going across the prairie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1773889090_783_.jpeg\" alt=\"Cynthia Madden Leitner.jpg\"  width=\"1280\" height=\"720\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Denver7<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1981 to integrate art into development at Greenwood Plaza, the nonprofit museum started outdoors and added indoor gallery space in 1995. Leitner said the Madden Gallery, which opened this past June at<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/xiy9s6NER1LNCiW76\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> 6363 S Fiddlers Green Cir Suite 110<\/a>, still reflects the museums outdoor roots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn most of these paintings\u2026 you can see the outdoors and get a feel of the outdoors,\u201d Madden Leitner said. \u201cBut, it&#8217;s also about your own home and looking out a window and seeing\u2026 out towards the mountains and imagining what&#8217;s beyond those mountains and how that affects your life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New exhibit brings Western art indoors at Museum of Outdoor Arts<\/p>\n<p>Marjorie Park features rotating sculptures in an open park space. It\u2019s free to visit on special event days or with Fiddler&#8217;s Green concert tickets during the warmer months of the year. Lily Brown, an administrative assistant at the museum, said one if its missions is \u201cmaking art a part of everyday life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a lot of Alice in Wonderland themes going through the park, and then we have things that switch throughout the park, as well,\u201d Brown said. \u201cIf things are ugly, it&#8217;s a beautiful thing to look at, and I think another thing that&#8217;s beautiful about art is that it&#8217;s different to every person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The museum uses money generated from Fiddler\u2019s Green to fund exhibitions and to keep the art free to the public. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday.
