The pair, who play a married couple in the new Amazon Prime series Scarpetta, were seen holding hands and beaming together earlier this month at the show’s New York premiere.<\/p>\n

At the event, Nicole, 58, admitted that their chemistry ‘just vibrates’, while Simon, 56, cheekily added: ‘I don’t kiss and tell’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The source added that Keith was seriously hoping that Nicole and Simon were just having fun for the cameras, as a genuine romance between them would devastate him.<\/p>\n

‘Keith is hoping they’re just hamming it up for headlines. But even then it feels to him like it’s a betrayal because both Nicole and Simon know how much even the hint of a romance between them will hurt him,’ they said.<\/p>\n

‘He already suspected they were getting close while filming. This has become his worst nightmare.’<\/p>\n

Nicole and Simon beamed as they attended the star-studded New York premiere of Scarpetta on March 3, staying by each other’s side across the night.<\/p>\n

However, the insider claims that Nicole is ‘too scared’ to do anything that might ruin her friendship with the Mentalist actor, whom she has known for decades.<\/p>\n

The magazine also claims Nicole wants to protect her friendship with Simon’s ex-wife, Rebecca.<\/p>\n

According to the report, it was Naomi who suggested to Nicole that Simon play her lover in the crime show, which is based on the book series by Patricia Cornwell.<\/p>\n

Simon, who has been known to be flirty with Nicole in public, has often teased fans with cheeky comments about his friendship with the superstar.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nicole and Keith’s separation was confirmed by Daily Mail on September 29, and Nicole filed for divorce on September 30, citing irreconcilable differences.<\/a><\/p>\n
