MetService says the low cloud disrupting flights in the capital has lifted.<\/p>\n

Wellington airport said 12 flights had been cancelled and a further 10 delayed on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

An airport spokesperson said the weather was expected to improve.<\/p>\n

“We advise passengers to check directly with their airlines for details on their flights.”<\/p>\n

MetService meteorologist Michael Pawley said the fog hanging about was already beginning to shift.<\/p>\n

“We’re not expecting it to stick around for much longer.”<\/p>\n

The airport’s online departure board showed some Sounds Air and Air New Zealand flights had either been cancelled or delayed indefinitely since 6.45am on Friday.<\/p>\n

Sounds Air owner Andrew Crawford said planes can’t land in the fog, so they’d be waiting for it to clear.<\/p>\n

An Air New Zealand spokesperson said a small number of flights were disrupted due to low cloud, but were now operating as normal.<\/p>\n

The fog hasn’t affected Jetstar flights.<\/p>\n
