Alan rushed home to discover Asher on the bed alongside his mum with the phone in his hand.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was still breathing but didn\u2019t look that good,\u201d Alan said. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t long and the ambulance arrived and took over.<\/p>\n

Rue was proud of her son, who was adopted from a family member at birth, for his bravery after teaching him how to use her cellphone to dial 111 last November.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe taught him to dial 111 and when the person answered to say his name, where he lives and the house number,\u201d Rue said. \u201cObviously he took it on board, but you never know with a 4-year-old.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne minute he\u2019s Spiderman and the next he\u2019s another superhero.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rue said Asher\u2019s quick thinking prevented an outcome that \u201ccould have been much worse\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy recovery could have been much longer, or this could have been much worse. I\u2019m so thankful for Asher. I\u2019m having tests to work out what these seizures are.\u201d<\/p>\n
School community officer Senior Constable Darron Goodwin paid Asher and his family a visit this week to present Asher with some gifts, including a framed certificate declaring him a \u201csuperhero\u201d.<\/p>\n
Goodwin said police wanted to acknowledge Asher\u2019s bravery.<\/p>\n
\u201cAsher recognised something was wrong, called for help and stayed on the line,\u201d he said. \u201cOutstanding for a 4-year-old.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nichols echoed Goodwin\u2019s sentiments: \u201cI was \u2013 and still am \u2013 astounded by Asher\u2019s calmness. His parents should be very proud. It could have been a very different call if he hadn\u2019t held himself the way he did.\u201d<\/p>\n
Goodwin said Asher was the youngest caller he had worked with.<\/p>\n
