Marshall went to the school, where staff had called an ambulance. <\/p>\n

Maverick had another seizure in the ambulance, then more at the hospital.<\/p>\n

Staff tried to get them under control and took him for a scan.<\/p>\n

That night, he was airlifted to Starship Children\u2019s Hospital, where he had emergency surgery.<\/p>\n

\u201dThey told us he had a brain bleed, but we didn\u2019t know until the day after that how major it was,\u201d Marshall said.<\/p>\n

After a few days in the intensive care unit, they were told the brain bleed still was not under control.<\/p>\n

She said Maverick had an MRI scan on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve just been told that he\u2019s got \u2026 an aneurysm in his brain.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marshall said it had all come as \u201ca huge shock\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been kind of overwhelming to, you know, deal with.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marshall said her son was usually a \u201cfun-loving boy\u201d who enjoyed swimming and tenpin bowling, and had lots of friends.<\/p>\n

Since the seizures started, he had been sleeping a lot and was capable of \u201cvery little communication\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw him stand up and he gave me a hug.\u201d<\/p>\n

She did not know how long he would be in hospital for and said the future was \u201cvery uncertain\u201d.<\/p>\n

Marshall said she had been told a possible cause of the brain bleed had \u201csomething to do with his birth\u201d.<\/p>\n

She and husband, Dave Marshall, had been staying at Ronald McDonald House since Maverick was admitted to hospital. Their two teenaged children were staying with family.<\/p>\n

\"Domino'sDomino’s Bureta organised a fundaiser for Tauranga boy Maverick Marshall after he suffered several seizures on March 5 and remains in hospital.<\/p>\n

Marshall said Maverick required a second operation yesterday morning for the aneurysm. <\/p>\n

She understood it had gone well and said the family would await further updates.<\/p>\n

A Givealittle page<\/a> had raised more than $7000 to support the family as of yesterday morning.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Domino\u2019s Bureta held a fundraiser for Maverick\u2019s family, which raised $500.<\/p>\n

Marshall said the money would go towards the family\u2019s travel expenses between Auckland and Tauranga.<\/p>\n

She thanked everyone who had supported their Givealittle page and the Domino\u2019s fundraiser.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really appreciate it. It\u2019s just amazing, like we\u2019re feeling overwhelmed by all the love and generosity and prayers that are going in for our family at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Domino\u2019s Bureta managing director Harkirat Singh said the fundraiser went \u201cexceptionally well\u201d with many people supporting the cause.<\/p>\n

One dollar from every pizza sold between 11am and 9pm was donated to the family.<\/p>\n

Singh said the money raised was \u201ca testament to the local spirit here\u201d. <\/p>\n

On a normal Wednesday it might sell 150 pizzas, but March 18 was different, Singh said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople weren\u2019t just buying dinner; they were showing up for a neighbour.\u201d<\/p>\n

Singh said his business was \u201cbuilt on the idea of giving back\u201d and had done other fundraisers.<\/p>\n

After hearing about Maverick and speaking with his family to see what they needed, organising the fundraiser \u201cfelt like the right thing to do\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope these funds provide some relief for Maverick\u2019s family for ongoing travel expenses and living costs between home and hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are incredibly grateful to everyone who stopped by to contribute.\u201d<\/p>\n
