In a separate incident, one person died following a single-vehicle crash on the rural road, Winding Creek Rd, north of Gore, at about 12.40am today.<\/p>\n
Police confirmed one other person sustained moderate injuries and was seen by ambulance services.<\/p>\n
Hato Hone St John sent a first response unit, an ambulance, a rapid response unit and a helicopter to the scene. <\/p>\n
One person was airlifted to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition.<\/p>\n
St John referred inquiries to police for further information on the crash.<\/p>\n
Motorists are advised to avoid the road or delay travel while emergency services work at the scene. <\/p>\n
The road is expected to remain blocked for most of the day.<\/p>\n
Diversions are in place while emergency services work at the scene, and motorists should allow extra time for travel.<\/p>\n
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised of both crashes.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, police are seeking CCTV and witnesses to the crash on Leet St.<\/p>\n
Police continue to investigate the matter and are seeking the public\u2019s assistance.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe matter will also be referred to the IPCA, as is standard procedure in cases like this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
If anyone has witnessed the crash, or holds CCTV in the areas of Wellesley Avenue, Avenal Street or Kelvin Street, they are advised to contact police. <\/p>\n
