Jay-Z reflected on facing rape allegations during his daughter Blue Ivy’s movie premiere in December 2024<\/p>\n

The civil lawsuit against Jay-Z was dismissed with prejudice, and he later sued the accuser and her legal team<\/p>\n

Blue Ivy showed support by wearing a jersey with ‘Jay-Z’ on the back, which deeply moved her father<\/p>\n

When Jay-Z<\/a> was going through a tough moment in his life last year, his daughter Blue Ivy<\/a> had the sweetest way to show her dad support.<\/p>\n

In his first interview in a while, the rapper, 56, spoke with GQ<\/a> about a 2024 lawsuit, in which he was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl 25 years ago alongside\u00a0Sean “Diddy” Combs<\/a>. Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, denied the allegations and the civil lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed by the accuser with prejudice just months after it was filed.<\/p>\n

Now, Jay-Z is looking back on learning about the lawsuit just before his 14-year-old daughter headed to the premiere of her movie, Mufasa: The Lion King.<\/p>\n

“I’m still dealing with that. Because that’s a horrible thing to put on someone,” the dad of three shared. “It was like, released the night of my daughter’s [movie] premiere.”<\/p>\n

At the Dec. 9, 2024, premiere in Los Angeles, Jay-Z still joined wife Beyonc\u00e9<\/a> and her mom Tina Knowles to support Blue Ivy at her premiere.<\/p>\n

“Of course that’s a question because this is her moment. But our family, we are a tight unit,” Jay-Z said of deciding whether or not to attend the premiere. “Blue has this jersey with ‘Jay-Z’ on the back. She put it on one day.”<\/p>\n

“She went to school with the ‘Jay,'” he continued, pointing to his back. “I was just in the corner, like tears coming down. Seriously. To have that, it’s priceless.”<\/p>\n

“People can say that [they’ll always be there for you], but it’s very rare that you’re going to have to exercise it. And in the darkest moment for me, I got to see those sorts of things,” he added.<\/p>\n

Alongside Blue Ivy, Jay-Z and Beyonc\u00e9 are parents to twins Rumi and Sir, 8.<\/p>\n

A woman, identified in court docs obtained by PEOPLE as Jane Doe, alleged<\/a> in a December 2024 complaint that Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs<\/a> raped her at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty when she was 13 years old.<\/p>\n

Though Doe’s attorneys voluntarily dismissed<\/a> the case in February 2025, Jay-Z filed his own lawsuit against Doe and her legal team, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney, a month later.<\/p>\n

He sued Doe and her lawyers, alleging malicious prosecution, abuse of process and civil conspiracy. He also sued Doe separately, alleging defamation. He claimed in his complaint that the initial allegations of rape against him were knowingly \u201cfalse\u201d and \u201cmalicious,” and Doe’s lawsuit was \u201cstrategically and tactically calculated” in an attempt to extort him.<\/p>\n

On April 22, Doe filed a motion to dismiss Jay-Z’s lawsuit, alleging that he “fails to state a claim upon which relief can be granted.”<\/p>\n
