The movement in New Zealand began in Napier, when, after the 1931 Hawkes Bay earthquake, many of the city\u2019s buildings were rebuilt in the modernist Art Deco style. The distinctive design caught on, and Art Deco buildings are now found throughout the country. <\/p>\n

\u201cArt Deco of that quality and calibre in that location is certainly hard to come by. It\u2019s such a good location, it\u2019s been really well cared for, and it\u2019s on Awatere, which is one of the most prominent locations in Hamilton.<\/p>\n
