\u201cToday, once again, the world witnessed the collapse of America\u2019s so-called security legends,\u201d Handala said. \u201cThe so-called \u2018impenetrable\u2019 systems of the FBI were brought to their knees within hours by our team.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll personal and confidential information of Kash Patel, including emails, conversations, documents, and even classified files, is now available for public download.\u201d<\/p>\n
Handala said the hack was \u201cdedicated to the martyrs of the Dena destroyer\u201d, an Iranian navy vessel that was sunk by a US submarine this month off Sri Lanka\u2019s southern coast.<\/p>\n

\u2018Hunt down\u2019<\/p>\n
According to Check Point, an Israeli cyber security firm, the hacked emails date from 2010 to 2019, before Patel\u2019s appointment as FBI director by US President Donald Trump, and appear to come from \u201can old email account or cloud back-up rather than an active inbox\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on what we\u2019ve seen so far from the material shared by the Iran\u2011linked group Handala, the data appears to consist largely of older email correspondence and personal files dating back many years, rather than evidence of an active or ongoing intrusion,\u201d Check Point chief of staff Gil Messing said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Personal photos of Patel were among the material released online by Handala including pictures of him smoking cigars and posing with an antique car.<\/p>\n
The FBI and Justice Department announced the seizure a week ago of four website domains that were allegedly used by hackers affiliated with Iran\u2019s Ministry of Intelligence and Security.<\/p>\n
Among those seized were two domains allegedly used by Handala.<\/p>\n
The Justice Department said the disabled websites were used for \u201cpsychological operations targeting adversaries of the regime\u201d, posting stolen data and \u201ccalling for the killing of journalists, regime dissidents, and Israeli persons\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIran thought they could hide behind fake websites and keyboard threats to terrorise Americans and silence dissidents,\u201d Patel said in a March 19 statement announcing the seizure of the domains.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis FBI will hunt down every actor behind these cowardly death threats and cyberattacks and will bring the full force of American law enforcement down on them.\u201d<\/p>\n
