\n\tGina Gershon<\/a> is no stranger to showing skin on camera, but she doesn\u2019t agree with the need for gratuitous onscreen nudity.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn her new memoir AlphaPussy: How I Survived the Valley and Learned to Love My Boobs, the actress recalled learning to \u201ctrust my gut\u201d when she turned down a topless role in Friday the 13th<\/a> Part 2 (1981).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAt the time, those kinds of slasher movies always had girls dying with their breasts exposed,\u201d she wrote. \u201cMy character would be killed by a stake through the heart, blood dripping down her tits. That seemed pretty lame to me: exploitation 101.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGershon added, \u201cMy dad may have died too soon, but he taught me many valuable lessons in the 19 years I had with him. Mainly, he taught me to trust myself in making my own decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis theme of trusting my gut kept showing up in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an interview with Fox News<\/a>, Gershon recalled, \u201cI was offered a lead in that movie. And, of course, I was so excited to act in movies, but it definitely felt kind of exploitative to me and a little silly that right before she gets killed, her top has to come off.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Showgirls star said she \u201cwas really lucky that I had a father who really taught me how to believe in my own decisions,\u201d noting that she thought he would be angry about her considering the role. \u201cAnd he said, \u2018It\u2019s your body. If you\u2019re comfortable with it, I\u2019m comfortable with it,’\u201d said Gershon.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen I sat and thought about it, I just thought, \u2018I don\u2019t really want to do this.\u2019 I wasn\u2019t comfortable with it. It seemed silly to me,\u201d she explained. \u201cNot that I had anything against nudity \u2014 I grew up on European films \u2014 but only if it makes sense for the character and the story. But when it just seems silly, I don\u2019t know. It just felt like it was something that wasn\u2019t for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite turning down the slasher role, Gershon made her onscreen debut the same year as a dancer in Beatlemania: The Movie.
