But then John himself goes and does something equally appalling.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do not want to revisit this ever again. It is being put to bed as of right now,\u201d he declares of the text message scandal.<\/p>\n
Um \u2026 okay. But, like, what the hell are we gonna talk about now?<\/p>\n
Honestly, John. If you\u2019re going to hose down one fire, you need to make sure the kindling is already starting to burn on a separate blaze.<\/p>\n
[Also, it\u2019s so noble of you to shut down the text message drama and ban it only after it has played out for two weeks.]<\/p>\n
Gia, please hack into your co-stars\u2019 iCloud accounts and circulate more incriminating screenshots.<\/p>\n
The only thing left to do? Torture Danny into finally admitting he doesn\u2019t love Bec.<\/p>\n
The tumultuous couple plonks down on the sofa for their session with the experts.<\/p>\n
Last time we saw them, they were bickering at the drunken dinner party. Danny was fed up that Bec had again courted drama. And after he heard the words she wrote in those text message screenshots, his attraction waned to the point where he basically admits to us that he\u2019s struggling to have sex.<\/p>\n
Not that Bec will confess any of this. She believes she can convince us they\u2019re the strongest couple here.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s so much love and adoration in this relationship,\u201d she beams.<\/p>\n
The experts cut to the chase: how have things been since Bec blindsided Danny with an unreciprocated declaration of love?<\/p>\n
Bec tries to control the narrative to relieve any embarrassment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m in love. He\u2019s not there yet \u2026 I won\u2019t allow that fact to ruin how good it feels for me,\u201d she giggles while snuggling into Danny, who visibly winces.<\/p>\n
Last week, the experts watched as Danny refused to give a clear answer about whether, one day, he might be able to fall in love with Bec. He weaselled out of a response. But tonight, the interrogation continues.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think I misinterpreted the question,\u201d Danny stammers. \u201cThe question \u2026 what was the ques-\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cCAN YOU SEE YOURSELF FALLING IN LOVE WITH ME?\u201d Bec interrupts.<\/p>\n
John Aiken stares at him. \u201cIt was a pretty black and white question.\u201d<\/p>\n
Danny launches into damage control. His spin? He\u2019s actually being respectful by refusing to tell Bec he loves her.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom my point of view, I don\u2019t feel like, as a man, if I give Bec my word on something, I\u2019m always gonna stand to that. And I don\u2019t think saying, \u2018Yes, I can 100 per cent fall in love with you\u2019, would be the right thing to say. Because it\u2019s almost making a promise \u2026 [and] I don\u2019t think you can promise that before you\u2019re in love with someone.\u201d<\/p>\n
Translation: No.<\/p>\n
He then takes a different tack.<\/p>\n
\u201c[If I could do it all over again] I\u2019d just say yes, I could see myself falling in love with you,\u201d he sighs.<\/p>\n
So \u2026 he\u2019d lie, just to avoid all the awkwardness of these persistent confrontations. Romantic!<\/p>\n
Just what every gal wants to hear.<\/p>\n
Bec then attempts to avoid embarrassment again.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe asked me to be his girlfriend!\u201d she brags to the experts about Danny\u2019s gesture earlier this week.<\/p>\n
The experts squint. \u201cWhat inspired you to ask Bec that question?\u201d<\/p>\n
Danny shrugs. \u201cIt was important to Bec.\u201d<\/p>\n
Expert Mel Schilling narrows her eyes. \u201cBut why was it important to YOU?\u201d<\/p>\n
Danny fumbles. \u201cIt gives Bec security.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut why was it important to YOU?\u201d Mel pushes.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was more \u2026 um \u2026 yeah, I think Bec just wanted the added security \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBUT. WHY. WAS. IT. IMPORTANT. TO. YOU?\u201d Mel demands.<\/p>\n
\u201c… Because I knew it\u2019d be special to Bec?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBUT WHY WAS IT IMPORTANT TO YOU?!\u201d Mel screams.<\/p>\n
The experts push and push to get Danny to simply admit he asked Bec to be his girlfriend just to get her off his back. Given the fact they\u2019re already married, this move was low-stakes and bought him some more time without having to say he loves her.<\/p>\n
Bec makes a demand \u2026<\/p>\n
After a lot of frustrated blinking and head hanging, Danny finally mutters through gritted teeth: \u201cWell … because … I … uh … I want her to be my girlfriend. That\u2019s why I done it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Everyone else in the room can see him trying to wiggle out of this. Everyone except Bec.<\/p>\n
\u201cCUUUUTE!\u201d she gushes. \u201cIt\u2019s really special to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
She then leans over and demands a moment of affection.<\/p>\n
\u201cKiss me,\u201d she whispers.<\/p>\n
Someone please organise the skywriter.<\/p>\n
