Michael Kim birdied the 16th and 17th and then sank a clutch putt on Sunday to edge Elvis Smylie and Ko Jeong-Weon by a shot at the Open de France.

Kim, a 32-year-old American, pulled ahead at Saint-Nom-La-Breteche near Paris with his two late birdies.

He found a bunker on

the last but chipped on to the green and holed from 5m to save par.

That sealed Kim’s long-awaited win and deprived the home crowd of the chance of seeing Frenchman Ko in a playoff.

Kiwi Ryan Fox saved his best round for the final day, shooting a 68 to finish in a share of 14th place at seven-under. Fellow Kiwi Daniel Hillier finished in 56th and remains one spot outside the top 10 in the season standings that receive PGA Tour cards for 2026.

AFP 21 Sep, 2025 06:22 PM2 mins to read Subscribe to listenAccess to Herald Premium articles require a…

[9
33036,33038,33039,33037,33041,24828,11746,9379,33035,1888,4131,1221,78,33044,12125,5494,111,139,69,5493,33042,5128,33040,202,10117,33043,213,10809,107,2563,6202,102,1530
post-35472","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-sports","tag-14th","tag-16th","tag-17th","tag-birdied","tag-clutch","tag-de","tag-edge","tag-elvis","tag-finishes","tag-first","tag-fox","tag-france","tag-in","tag-jeongweon","tag-kim","tag-michael","tag-new-zealand","tag-newzealand","tag-nz","tag-open","tag-putt","tag-ryan","tag-sank","tag-seven","tag-shot","tag-smylie","tag-sports","tag-sunday","tag-then","tag-title","tag-wins","tag-with","tag-years
["GET
