Minimum temperatures are dropping into the single digits for many early on Wednesday morning. Masterton, Twizel, and Alexandra are all forecast to reach a chilly 2\u00b0C, so keep an eye out for possible morning frost in sheltered places. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Y3UmivpfDd\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/Y3UmivpfDd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 MetService NZ (@MetService) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MetService\/status\/2038412484600860963?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 30, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">Daytime temperatures across Te Ika a M\u0101ui (North Island) are expected to remain warm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">Some isolated showers are forecast for Auckland this morning, however \u201cthose southwesterlies will pick up, so temperatures won\u2019t be quite as lovely\u201d, Bakker said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cAuckland will make it to 20 degrees in the afternoon, but only just.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">A fine day is forecast for Hamilton, where a high of 22C is expected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">Wellington is forecast to be mainly fine today, though a shower is possible around late morning as northerlies turn southerly. <\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">A high of 16C has been forecast, though temperatures are set to drop to 9C overnight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">The wind change is also driving heavy swells off the Wairarapa coast with waves expected to reach about 4.5m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cIf you don\u2019t think you can go out in it, don\u2019t go out in it. <\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cAnd if you don\u2019t know if you can go out in it, that probably means you shouldn\u2019t,\u201d Bakker warned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">Dunedin and Christchurch are expected to reach highs of 14C today before dropping to 9C tonight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">Despite South Island temperatures expected to plunge overnight, warmer conditions are expected as Easter approaches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">Bakker said daytime temperatures in inland parts of the South Island \u201cwill be getting low to mid-20s for maximum temperatures\u201d. <\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">Weather conditions over the long weekend are also expected to remain relatively settled. <\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">MetService is \u201cnot expecting\u201d any severe weather that would disrupt travel plans. <\/p>\n<p class=\"jcUtdRSv\" style=\"display:none\">\u201cIt\u2019ll be more along the lines of \u2018Ah darn, it\u2019s raining\u2019 rather than something that requires action,\u201d Bakker said.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It\u2019s going to be a cold Tuesday night!
