It\u2019s a sport that tests a wide range of abilities, meaning elite competitors need to develop multiple skillsets to perform on competition day.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"12\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">French athlete Victor Hoffer knows this all too well. His 25-hour training week highlights just how varied and demanding CrossFit is, with the 22-year-old confident the schedule will help him win at least one Workout of the Day at the CrossFit Games this summer, after finishing 12th in the 2026 CrossFit Open.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"16\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Combining  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/train-smarter\/a70427949\/build-absolute-strength-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/train-smarter\/a70427949\/build-absolute-strength-guide\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"heavy strength work\" data-node-id=\"16.1\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">heavy strength work<\/a> with plenty of endurance training, Hoffer also dedicates time to refining his  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/g32137584\/beginners-abs-workout-gymnastics\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/g32137584\/beginners-abs-workout-gymnastics\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"gymnastics\" data-node-id=\"16.3\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">gymnastics<\/a> skills to further improve performance.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"20\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">But while those 25 hours \u2013 spread across 14 sessions and six days \u2013 are carefully structured, not all are  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/a61374815\/high-intensity-training-method\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/a61374815\/high-intensity-training-method\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"high intensity\" data-node-id=\"20.1\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">high intensity<\/a>. It\u2019s a balance he\u2019s learned over time, admitting he did too much, too soon when he was younger.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"25\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">&#8216;Start gradually and find a good training environment with experienced coaches,&#8217; he told  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redbull.com\/au-en\/victor-hoffer-functional-fitness-training-interview\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.redbull.com\/au-en\/victor-hoffer-functional-fitness-training-interview\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Red Bull\" data-node-id=\"25.1\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Red Bull<\/a>. &#8216;Ask questions and learn the movements properly. Most importantly, set realistic short-term goals. Don\u2019t try to go all-in at 150 percent from day one. Build things step by step \u2013 brick by brick. Personally, I did the opposite at the beginning and went all out straight away. I wouldn\u2019t necessarily recommend that.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Hoffer\u2019s Weekly RoutineStrength<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"31\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Hoffer completes four strength sessions each week, including two  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/g757107\/one-workout-for-huge-upper-body-strength\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/g757107\/one-workout-for-huge-upper-body-strength\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"upper body\" data-node-id=\"31.1\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">upper body<\/a>  and two <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"36\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/train-smarter\/a70460658\/leg-strength-exercises-men-over-40\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/train-smarter\/a70460658\/leg-strength-exercises-men-over-40\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"lower body\" data-node-id=\"36.0\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">lower body<\/a> workouts.  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/a749927\/should-i-do-olympic-lifts\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/a749927\/should-i-do-olympic-lifts\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Olympic lifts\" data-node-id=\"36.2\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Olympic lifts<\/a>, such as clean and jerks, are combined with more traditional movements like the  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/how-tos\/a755647\/how-to-master-the-bench-press\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/how-tos\/a755647\/how-to-master-the-bench-press\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"bench press\" data-node-id=\"36.4\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">bench press<\/a> to build a powerful, well-rounded physique.<\/p>\n<p>Cardio<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"42\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Aerobic capacity is a key part of a CrossFit athlete\u2019s repertoire. Hoffer runs at least twice a week, typically covering 5km to 8km, and completes four endurance machine sessions lasting up to 90 minutes. These may include the bike,  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/cardio-exercise\/a64067188\/rowing-machine-workouts\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/cardio-exercise\/a64067188\/rowing-machine-workouts\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"rowing machine\" data-node-id=\"42.1\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">rowing machine<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/cardio-exercise\/a65601728\/average-1k-skierg-times-by-age\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/fitness\/cardio-exercise\/a65601728\/average-1k-skierg-times-by-age\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"SkiErg\" data-node-id=\"42.3\" class=\"body-link css-10fnnmt emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">SkiErg<\/a> \u2013 sometimes all three in one session.<\/p>\n<p>Gymnastics<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"47\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Hoffer began gymnastics at the age of three and continues to refine his technique. He now trains it twice a week, focusing on movements essential for elite CrossFit athletes. It supports strength work while also improving mobility across a range of positions.<\/p>\n<p>Competition<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"52\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">If that wasn\u2019t enough, Hoffer also simulates competition demands with two high-intensity sessions each week, working at or close to his limit.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"56\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">&#8216;Competition always brings situations you can\u2019t fully prepare for. Every experience teaches you how to react better next time,&#8217; he says. &#8216;Right now I\u2019m adding more running and more competitions to my schedule.
