The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DWjhdflgcF5\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\" class=\"c-regularLink\">paid partnership<\/a> shows Curry dribbling and shooting a basketball, followed by the Google logo, but it&#8217;s the band on his wrist that caught my eye.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"u-speakableText-p2\">A gray wristband with neon orange piping and a strap adjuster sits on Curry&#8217;s wrist. There&#8217;s no screen, reminding us of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/health\/fitness\/whoop-5-0-review-a-fitness-tracker-with-a-focus-on-performance-and-longevity\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"c-shortcodeLink c-shortcodeLink-active\" target=\"_blank\">Whoop wrist-based wearable<\/a>, which announced on Tuesday that it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whoop.com\/us\/en\/press-center\/whoop-announces-series-g-funding\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\" class=\"c-regularLink\">raised $575 million in funding<\/a>, bringing its valuation to $10.1 billion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If it is similar to Whoop, the new Google wearable may be able to monitor sleep, stress, recovery and overall health by tracking wrist-based metrics such as skin temperature, heart rate, blood oxygen levels and daily behaviors.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\" alt=\"A screenshot of Stephen Curry in a black sleeveless hoodie holding a basketball while wearing an orange and gray wristband.\" height=\"1294.091743119266\" width=\"768\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>   <\/p>\n<p>You can spot the gray-and-orange wearable on Curry&#8217;s wrist here.<\/p>\n<p> Stephen Curry\/Google\/Instagram\/Screenshot by CNET<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m excited for what this is going to mean for the world, for health and wellness. It&#8217;s the first of its kind, in a way,&#8221; Curry says in a voiceover. &#8220;I won&#8217;t spoil it. You&#8217;re going to have to see it for yourself.&#8221; The video&#8217;s text adds, &#8220;A new relationship with your health. Coming soon.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the potential new launch, a Google representative responded, &#8220;Our performance advisor has been working with the team to cook up something special \ud83d\udc40. More to share soon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Aside from not having a screen, it will be interesting to see how Google differentiates this new device from its current line of wearables, which includes Pixel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/tech\/mobile\/best-smartwatch\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"c-shortcodeLink c-shortcodeLink-active\" target=\"_blank\">smartwatches<\/a> and five\u00a0<a href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">Fitbit models<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a comment on the video, the account for Fitbit, Google&#8217;s current wearable\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/health\/fitness\/best-fitness-tracker\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" class=\"c-shortcodeLink c-shortcodeLink-active\" target=\"_blank\">fitness tracker<\/a>, responded with the eyes emoji.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Why Curry?<\/p>\n<p>In August 2025, at the Made by Google event, the company announced a long-term partnership with Curry, who signed on as Google&#8217;s performance advisor across Google Health, Google Pixel and Google Cloud. As part of his role, Curry assists Google in training its algorithm and designing new products and features.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnet.com\/ai-atlas\/   \" target=\"_blank\" class=\"c-shortcodeImage_imageContainer\">  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\" alt=\"AI Atlas\" height=\"268.105702364395\" width=\"768\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/company-news\/inside-google\/company-announcements\/google-stephen-curry-partnership\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\" class=\"c-regularLink\">announcement post<\/a>, Google mentioned that Curry uses AI from Google Cloud insights and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cloud.google.com\/transform\/how-we-built-an-ai-basketball-coach-with-gemini-on-vertex-ai\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"(opens in a new window)\" class=\"c-regularLink\">AI basketball coach<\/a> to improve his game. Curry says this helps him analyze his shot quality and optimize his workout strategy.
