\n Boone, a tech start-up based at Norwich Research Park, has launched a new nutrition app.\n<\/p>\n
\n Users will provide a saliva sample that will be used to identify and record their genetic makeup and upload it to their app profile.\n<\/p>\n
\n Boone will then recommend foods which are best for people’s health, based on their DNA.\n<\/p>\n

\n Murray Dare, Boone\u2019s founder, says that because everyone\u2019s DNA is different, individuals respond differently to certain foods and ingredients.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThe Boone app has been designed to empower people to make better meal choices,\u201d he said.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cWe are not trying to dictate what people should eat, but instead to empower individuals with bespoke nutritional insights and recommendations designed for them and their DNA makeup.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cA huge proportion of the UK\u2019s population has vitamin deficiencies which has been linked to multiple areas of health, such as mental health, sleep and the menopause.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n The app will also allow people to use their mobile phones to take photos of their meals and the barcodes and QR codes on food packaging.\n<\/p>\n
\n It will then build a food log to highlight potential nutrient deficiencies and provide real-time advice on how they can improve their nutrient intake with alternative or additional ingredients, based on their age, gender, metabolism, body type and DNA traits.\n<\/p>\n
\n Users will be given feedback on each meal so they can make their own choices of how to improve their diet over time.\n<\/p>\n
\n Boone now plans to roll out its tech to sports organisations across the UK, before turning its attention to US college sports teams.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Boone sports team app is being designed to run alongside a sports club\u2019s own performance data.
