Naureen Aslam, wife of the late Pakistani police officer Chaudhry Aslam, has shared her views on his portrayal in the film series Dhurandhar. She said Sanjay Dutt played the character to the T, but she didn’t subscribe to everything that was shown in the film, including violent scenes in which Chaudhry Aslam kills the innocents.<\/p>\n

During a podcast <\/a>with Aaj Tak’s Arvind Ojha, Naureen described her late husband as deeply committed to his job, with his work receiving international coverage, including in London and the United States. She said Dutt was perfect for the role. \u201cWhen he stands near the car and raises his eyes, for a moment it felt like Aslam himself,\u201d she said, praising the actor’s skills.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the film, Naureen said she has often emphasised in Pakistan that Chaudhry was extremely loyal to his character and duty. She praised Dutt\u2019s performance, saying that his look and acting suited the role very well.<\/p>\n

She specifically mentioned the portrayal of fake encounters and harm to children as inaccurate. \u201cIf they were making a film, they could have at least called me, the police, or journalists to understand both his positive and negative sides,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Naureen added that her husband used to say a film would be made about his life after his death. While the film has now been released, she feels it did not fully do justice to his character or the complexity of his role. Naureen also expressed concerns about the scale of Lyari<\/a> shown in the film, suggesting it was exaggerated. She believed Chaudhry\u2019s role deserved more depth and nuance than was presented on screen.<\/p>\n

Naureen mentioned she had only seen parts of the film through clips. She laughed when referring to the abusive language used by the character, noting that while it may not be family-friendly, such language is common within the police force and suited the character.<\/p>\n

Dhurandhar: The Revenge is currently running in theatres. The film, written, directed and produced by Aditya Dhar, features Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy infiltrating Karachi’s crime, politics and terrorism nexus. Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Rakesh Bedi, among others appear in key roles in the film.<\/p>\n
