SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) \u2014 Several areas on the University of Utah campus have been singled out for possible measles exposure as cases continue to rise across the state. <\/p>\n
In an update posted Wednesday, the Salt Lake County Health Department (SLCoHD) said measles exposure had been reported at the Salt Lake campus between March 24 and March 28, including during a STEM Conference at the Crocker Science Center. <\/p>\n
Other locations include the Sorenson Molecular Biotech Building, the James Talmage Building, the A. Ray Olpin Student Union, Shoreline Student Housing, and Urban Sailor Coffee.<\/p>\n

SLCoHD health officials advised anyone who may have been at these locations in the last week to watch for symptoms, as measles can spread easily through the air. <\/p>\n
Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a rash. Symptoms may start to develop within two weeks after exposure. <\/p>\n
If measles symptoms develop, health officials said you should stay home and call your healthcare provider before visiting a clinic. <\/p>\n
So far in 2026, over 360 Utahns have been diagnosed with measles, adding to the 197 diagnosed in 2025. A majority of those cases have been confirmed in the southwest region of the state, including Washington, Kane, Garfield and Iron County. <\/p>\n
Several cases have also been identified along the Wasatch Front, particularly in Utah County and Salt Lake County, where there have been 87 and 60 confirmed cases, respectively. <\/p>\n
