Years earlier, in 2021, the Idaho local survived a devastating accident in which she was ejected from a car<\/a> and left upside down on a 30-foot-high power line \u2014 an incident that ultimately led to the loss of her leg and permanent damage to her arm.<\/p>\n \u201cI have a brachial plexus injury where\u2026 three of [the nerves] were pulled directly from the root of my spine and the other two were stretched,\u201d she tells PEOPLE over Zoom. \u201cAnd it left my arm completely paralyzed.\u201d<\/p>\n Along with the physical trauma, the injury also brought chronic nerve pain which is something she continues to navigate daily.<\/p>\n \u201cIt kind of feels like pins and needles. It feels like stabbing. It feels like it\u2019s on fire,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n Kennedy Bingham and her husband and friends during HYROX Even so, Bingham has continued to push herself physically. Most recently, that determination led her to HYROX: a high-intensity fitness competition that combines running with strength-based challenges.<\/p>\n She chose it for one reason: it scared her.<\/p>\n \u201cI knew it was really scary, and I knew it was gonna push myself more than anything I probably could\u2019ve chose,\u201d she says. \u201cBut I knew I could do it.\u201d<\/p>\n After about six months of training, Bingham competed in the November race as part of a relay team alongside her husband \u2014 ultimately crossing the finish line with him.<\/p>\n Getting to that moment, however, was its own challenge.<\/p>\n \u201cThe training was honestly the worst part,\u201d Bingham says. \u201cI was like, \u2018I\u2019m so tired of going to train, running and sled\u2026 the same thing every day.\u2019 It got really draining.\u201d<\/p>\n On race day, Bingham took on sled pull and farmer carries, along with completing two kilometers of running, which she found especially difficult with her prosthetic.<\/p>\n \u201cThe running was probably the hardest part for me,\u201d she says. \u201cIt just gets so sweaty that [the prosthetic] will literally completely fall off. And so that gets really frustrating when you\u2019re trying to hit your goal.\u201d<\/p>\n Even then, unexpected hurdles came up. Wearing her running blade during farmer carries threw off her balance.<\/p>\n \u201cThe bounce of it actually threw it off so bad, and it went a lot worse than I thought,\u201d she says. \u201cBut I mean, we finished it, and we did it.\u201d<\/p>\n In the end, crossing the finish line alongside her husband made it all worth it.<\/p>\n \u201cWatching him push through those 100 wall balls was crazy and so impressive to me,\u201d she says. \u201cAnd then obviously running across the finish line together was the best.\u201d<\/p>\n Kennedy Bingham hugging her husband Beyond the physical demands, the race tested her mentally just as much.<\/p>\n \u201cMy mind did that literally the entire HYROX race,\u201d she says. \u201cAll I could think of was just, \u2018Stop, stop, stop.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n Still, she pushed through.<\/p>\n \u201cYou are truly so much stronger than you think you are,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n That mindset doesn\u2019t just shape how she competes; it\u2019s also at the core of why she shares her journey online.<\/p>\n Bingham documented her HYROX training and race day on TikTok, where her videos quickly gained traction, reaching millions of viewers and drawing an outpouring of support.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m crying with yall!!! \u2728 THIS – this is what life\u2019s about.
