{"id":361936,"date":"2026-04-03T13:03:24","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T13:03:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/361936\/"},"modified":"2026-04-03T13:03:24","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T13:03:24","slug":"coronation-streets-lou-michaelis-exits-again-as-prison-storyline-ends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/361936\/","title":{"rendered":"Coronation Street\u2019s Lou Michaelis exits again as prison storyline ends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another favourite has left the <a href=\"http:\/\/radiotimes.com\/tv\/soaps\/coronation-street\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Coronation Street<\/a> cobbles.<\/p>\n<p>A dramatic prison scene sparked the end of Lou Michaelis&#8217; (Farrel Hegarty) second stint in the ITV soap, 13 months since her first appearance.<\/p>\n<p>The character was introduced alongside husband Mick (Joe Layton), as<a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/soaps\/coronation-street\/coronation-street-lou-michaelis-farrel-hegarty-exit-newsupdate\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> the nightmare neighbours<\/a> who moved into Mawdsley Street, across the ginnel from Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown (Sam Aston and Dolly-Rose Campbell).<\/p>\n<p>After ruffling feathers with the Weatherfield residents, Lou was sent down for attacking Gary Windass (Mikey North), who she developed an obsession with. Meanwhile, Mick ended up behind bars for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/soaps\/coronation-street\/coronation-street-craig-mick-attack-newsupdate\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">brutally killing PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith)<\/a> with a baseball bat.<\/p>\n<p>Hegarty reprised her role for a brief stint earlier this year, after Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) found herself imprisoned for causing death by dangerous driving.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image__img\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/0902coroloudebbie01-111880a.jpg\" alt=\"Lou stands over Debbie, who is in a wheelchair, in prison in Corrie\" data-item-name=\"Lou stands over Debbie, who is in a wheelchair, in prison in Corrie\" title=\"09_02_coro_lou_debbie_01\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1 \/ 0.6670816733067729;object-fit:contain\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"700\" height=\"466.95717131474106\" data-testid=\"image-img\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Lou (Farrell Hegarty) was Debbie&#8217;s (Sue Devaney) prison pal.\u00a0ITV<\/p>\n<p>Debbie had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/soaps\/coronation-street\/coronation-street-debbie-webster-sentencing-itvx-newsupdate\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pleaded guilty to causing a multi-vehicle pile-up<\/a> (which was seen during the Corrie crossover episode with <a href=\"http:\/\/radiotimes.com\/tv\/soaps\/emmerdale\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Emmerdale<\/a>, Corriedale), in a bid to protect her son Carl (Jonathan Howard).
