Pictures<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Batman\u201d and \u201cDawn of the Planet of the Apes\u201d filmmaker Matt Reeves is set to direct an eight-episode series adaptation of the famed Tom Wolfe 1987 New York society satire novel \u201cThe Bonfire of the Vanities\u201d for Apple TV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoston Legal\u201d and \u201cBig Little Lies\u201d creator David E. Kelley, who previously worked with Apple TV on the Jake Gyllenhaal-led \u201cPresumed Innocent\u201d and the upcoming \u201cMargo\u2019s Got Money Troubles,\u201d will pen and executive produce the series.<\/p>\n<p>The original novel is a drama about ambition, racism, social class, politics, and greed in 1980s New York City and centers on various characters.<\/p>\n<p>It primarily focuses on white yuppie Wall Street bond trader Sherman McCoy, whose life falls apart after a hit-and-run incident with a young black man in the Bronx while his mistress was driving the car.<\/p>\n<p>Reeves is also executive producing via his 6th and Idaho Productions label.  Sarah Geismer and Matthew Tinker will also executive produce for Warner Bros. Television.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Hanks, Melanie Griffith, Bruce Willis, Kim Cattrall, F.
