It\u2019s shaping up to be a big year for Anya Taylor-Joy<\/a>, who returns to the big screen this weekend with her first big release of 2026, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Taylor-Joy reprises her role as Princess Peach in the film opposite Chris Pratt<\/a> as Mario, and last week it was even confirmed that Glen Powell<\/a> will provide the voice for Star Fox. This summer, Taylor-Joy will return to Apple TV after working on The Gorge for a new series, Lucky<\/a>, which has already been set for release on July 15. She\u2019ll close out the year by starring as Alia Atreides in Dune: Part Three<\/a>, the film in Denis Villeneuve<\/a>\u2019s sci-trilogy. The film will be released later this year on December 18, the same day as Avengers: Doomsday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As Taylor-Joy continues to branch out with new projects, she has steadily established herself as one of the most talented performers working in Hollywood<\/a>. This doesn\u2019t always translate to success at the box office, though, as evidenced by her 2024 sci-fi film with Chris Hemsworth<\/a>, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga<\/a>. The 148-minute epic is a prequel to Tom Hardy<\/a> and Charlize Theron<\/a>\u2019s 2015 sci-fi movie, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Taylor-Joy takes over the same role played by Theron<\/a> in the original film. Warner Bros. invested over $150 million in the making of Furiosa, which turned out to be a mistake, when the film grossed only $175 million at the global box office. It\u2019s been rewriting history since it left theaters, though, continuing to dominate watchlists as one of the most popular movies on HBO Max<\/a>. The film was written and directed by George Miller<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition to Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Chris Pratt as Mario, and Glen Powell as Star Fox, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie also stars Jack Black<\/a> as Bowser, Brie Larson<\/a> as Rosalina, Benny Safdie<\/a> as Bowser Jr., Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Charlie Day<\/a> as Luigi, Donald Glover<\/a> as Yoshi, Issa Rae as Honey Queen, and more. Matthew Fogel wrote the script for the film, which is being directed by Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, Pierre Leduc, and Fabien Polack. It\u2019s a direct sequel to the 2023 film, which is currently streaming on Peacock.<\/p>\n
