{"id":366552,"date":"2026-04-06T17:22:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T17:22:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/366552\/"},"modified":"2026-04-06T17:22:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T17:22:15","slug":"revenge-is-a-dish-best-served-in-game-150-for-lethal-liam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/366552\/","title":{"rendered":"Revenge is a dish best served in game 150 for lethal Liam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Liam Martin\u2019s 150th milestone game gave the Penrith back-rower some sweet revenge on a personal note.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He scored the Panthers&#8217; opening try in the fourth minute on Good Friday to start the points cavalcade that resulted in a 50-10 win over the Storm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That was Martin\u2019s 31st NRL try but it was more satisfying that it was against Storm than simply being in his 150th game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty awesome but it\u2019s funny because I made my debut almost seven years against Storm,\u201d he told NRL.com remembering the pain of that 32-2 loss to Melbourne in Round 3, 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI much prefer the result this time, that\u2019s for sure.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Martin should probably be closer to 200 considering the shoulder, hamstring and wrist injuries he\u2019s suffered. He\u2019s had a delayed start to 2026 due to a calf tear.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt definitely does feel like 150 and I feel like I\u2019ve jam-packed a lot into it. It begs the question of what motivates this playing squad in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s because that feeling (winning premierships) is so addictive&#8230; last year was so disappointing missing out&#8230; getting so close and then so far away,\u201d Martin said of the preliminary final loss to Brisbane.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat has really driven everybody.
