Barram\u2019s Volkswagen Scirocco made heavy head-on contact with an exposed concrete wall on the exit of Griffins Bend during Sunday\u2019s race<\/a>, prompted by a side-by-side clash with Denyer, who was trying to get past.<\/p>\n

The clash happened in a double-waved yellow zone due to another car being stranded on the left-hand side of the track, Barram clipping that car before hitting the wall.<\/p>\n

Barram was transported in a stable condition to Orange hospital, where the full extent of his injuries was assessed.<\/p>\n

He has since been diagnosed with multiple rib fractures, a fractured vertebra and multiple fractures in his foot that will require reconstructive surgery.<\/p>\n

Barram is expected to begin surgery in Brisbane later this week.<\/p>\n

Denyer made his first public comment since the crash yesterday<\/a>, outlining that he suffered no major injuries.<\/p>\n

He also called the incident \u201cvery minor\u201d and said, \u201csomeone just tagged my car trying to avoid another parked car and that just spat us both into the wall\u201d.<\/p>\n

That has drawn the ire of the Barram camp, which has laid the blame squarely on Denyer\u2019s feet, given he appeared to be passing in a double waved yellow zone.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing media coverage of the incident involving car 84 and car 101 at the 2026 Bathurst 6 Hour, we feel it\u2019s important the full facts are on the record,\u201d said Barram\u2019s co-driver James Hay.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur driver Richard Barram was struck by Grant Denyer\u2019s vehicle in a zone under double waved yellow flags \u2013 a sector requiring all drivers to slow and prepare to stop. The collision was not a racing incident. It was avoidable.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a result of the impact, Richard sustained multiple rib fractures, a fractured vertebra, and multiple fractures in his foot requiring reconstructive surgery. Our vehicle was written off.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had hoped to deal with this privately and allow the stewards\u2019 process to run its course. However, following Grant\u2019s recent Facebook post in which he described the incident as \u2018someone just tagged my car\u2019 \u2013 while our driver is recovering from serious injuries \u2013 we felt compelled to respond publicly.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply disappointed that he would minimise a serious incident on social media and deflect responsibility while Richard is still recovering.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe outpouring of support we have received from the Australian motorsport community has been overwhelming, and it is partly that support \u2013 and our obligation to those people \u2013 that has driven us to reach out and set the record straight publicly.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wish Grant a full recovery. But the facts matter \u2014 particularly when a driver is facing a long road to recovery.<\/p>\n
