Well, here\u2019s a use for the wireless cassette player<\/a> Maxell announced recently. Hours after The Strokes<\/a> announced a new album titled Reality Awaits<\/a> on Monday, April 6th, one of their fans revealed they received a cassette from the band in the mail containing a new song called \u201cGoing Shopping.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to sharing photos<\/a> of the special package they received in exchange for signing up for The Strokes\u2019 SMS marketing list, the fan also posted a rip<\/a> of \u201cGoing Shopping,\u201d which you can hear below.<\/p>\n

A laidback track somewhat reminiscent of The Strokes\u2019\u00a0Angles era, \u201cGoing Shopping\u201d features Julian Casablancas\u2019 vocals drenched in Auto-Tune as he criticizes late-stage capitalism. \u201cSolidarity can be difficult\/ When you got cool stuff to lose,\u201d he sings. \u201cWe\u2019ve been expanding on our greatness\/ Building future ruins.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Strokes debuted \u201cGoing Shopping\u201d during an underplay show at San Francisco\u2019s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Monday evening. \u201cI guess why not, right?\u201d Casablancas said while introducing the song. \u201cIt\u2019s already out there.\u201d\u00a0Watch fan-shot footage below.<\/p>\n
