These campers quickly took these orphaned black bear cubs to the nearby wildlife recovery center after finding their deceased mother nearby.

These precious black bear cubs are so young that they still haven’t even opened their eyes yet. Footage of the cubs snacking on a bottle with their eyes closed shows just how vulnerable they still are. Thankfully, they are safe at the wildlife recovery center now, where they can get a second chance at life and avoid ending up as illegal exotic pets.

According to this video, these vulnerable black bear cubs are the first rescued bear cubs of the season. The report also notes that it is quite rare for bear cubs this small to be rescued. Usually, their cries cannot be heard from very far away, so these bear cubs were very lucky.

The chance of actually finding and rescuing them in time was like finding a needle in a haystack, since they were found in one of the most remote regions of Vancouver Island.

Related: Black Bear Cubs’ Precious Playground Antics Give off Total Human Kid Vibes

This report also notes that with warmer spring weather already hitting the area, many bears have finished hibernating and are out looking for food. That means that residents of Vancouver Island can expect to see more bears in the near future. As such, this report mentions that they should lock down their trash cans and compost bins to deter wild bears in search of food from entering their neighborhoods.

Social Media Is Breathing a Sigh of Relief for These Black Bear Cubs

A black bear cub lying on a blanket.Image via Shutterstock/Geoffrey Kuchera

(Image via Shutterstock/Geoffrey Kuchera)

Viewers on social media had a lot to say about this one.
