\n\tUPDATED, 3:54 p.m.: Hulu<\/a> has announced that Abbott Elementary star Lisa Ann Walter<\/a>\u2018s debut stand-up special, on which we were first to report last fall, is titled It Was an Accident and will premiere Friday, May 15.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the hour, Walter takes on feral Gen-Xers, self-loathing, and navigating a backsliding America, via the no-filter lens of a grown-ass woman who has been paying attention. Walter wrote, performed, and directed it herself, exec producing alongside Abbott co-star Sheryl Lee Ralph, Michelle Caputo, and Shannon Hartman, with Art & Industry producing. <\/p>\n

PREVIOUS EXCLUSIVE, OCTOBER 14: After touring as a stand-up for 20 years, Abbott Elementary star Lisa Ann Walter has inked a deal for Hulu to release her debut comedy special in 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\tNo word yet on what Walter will be discussing in the special. But she directed it herself, taping it at Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia, PA. It\u2019ll stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe special is produced by Art & Industry, and is executive produced by Walter, Walter\u2019s Abbott co-star Sheryl Lee Ralph, Michelle Caputo and Shannon Hartman.<\/p>\n

\n\tWalter plays fan favorite Melissa Schemmenti in ABC\u2019s highest rated comedy, Abbott Elementary, which is currently airing its fifth season Wednesdays on ABC, with episodes streaming next day on Hulu.\u00a0She has previously co-created, produced and starred in several network sitcoms: Fox\u2019s My Wildest Dreams, ABC\u2019s Life\u2019s Work, and NBC\u2019s Dance Your Ass Off. She\u2019s also known for stand-out performances in films like The Parent Trap, Shall We Dance, Bruce Almighty, Steven Spielberg\u2019s War of the Worlds, and the Lionsgate action-comedy Killers with Ashton Kutcher.<\/p>\n

\n\tWalter published the memoir The Best Thing About My Ass Is That It\u2019s Behind Me with Harper One in 2011, seeing it reach #13 on both Amazon and the New York Times Comedic Essays Bestseller List. As an advocate for many years, she is on the board of numerous organizations: The Entertainment Community Fund (for whom she won $1 million as Celebrity Jeopardy champion), the ERA Coalition, and the SAG-AFTRA National & Local organization, where she was recently elected as the first Vice President of the Los Angeles Local.<\/p>\n
