{"id":369473,"date":"2026-04-08T12:12:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T12:12:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/369473\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T12:12:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T12:12:07","slug":"max-healthcare-to-acquire-controlling-stake-in-bhubaneswars-kalinga-hospital-for-%e2%82%b9300-crore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/nz\/369473\/","title":{"rendered":"Max Healthcare to acquire controlling stake in Bhubaneswar\u2019s Kalinga Hospital for \u20b9300 crore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"stockpage_articles\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/market\/stocks\/max-healthcare-institute-ltd-share-price\/MHI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Max Healthcare Institute Ltd.<\/a> said it will acquire a controlling stake of around 58.4% in Kalinga Hospital Ltd. for an equity value of \u20b9300 crore, marking its entry into the Bhubaneswar healthcare market.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition, to be executed through a share purchase agreement, will give Max Healthcare control of the 250-bed multi-speciality Kalinga Hospital, which has been operational since 1997.<\/p>\n<p>\nIn an exchange filing on Wednesday, April 8, the company said the deal will strengthen its footprint in eastern India and add immediate capacity to its network, as the hospital is already operational.<br \/>Also read: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/market\/antony-waste-share-price-gain-as-japan-jfe-invests-rs-44-crore-for-25-pc-stake-in-two-spvs-ws-l-19882801.htm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Antony Waste shares gain as Japan\u2019s JFE invests \u20b944 crore for 25% stake in two SPVs<\/a><br \/>\nKalinga Hospital, located in Maitri Vihar, Bhubaneswar, is spread over a 10-acre land parcel with a built-up area of about 2.6 lakh sq ft, and offers services across key specialities including cardiology, neurology, oncology, orthopaedics and renal sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Max Healthcare\u2019s board has also approved loans of up to \u20b9100 crore to the hospital for renovation, upgradation and expansion, along with issuance of a corporate guarantee to refinance existing borrowings.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition will be funded through external commercial borrowings of up to \u20b9300 crore, the company said.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman and Managing Director Abhay Soi said the deal provides an opportunity to enter an \u201cextremely attractive market\u201d with a well-established hospital that offers significant operational upside and expansion potential.<\/p>\n<p>The transaction is expected to be completed within 4\u20136 weeks, subject to the fulfilment of customary conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of Max Healthcare were trading 1.43% up at \u20b9945.70 as of 1.05 pm.
