This includes tens of thousands of enterprise clients, with the company making money via consumer and enterprise subscriptions, which can cost anywhere from $20 to $200 a month.

The FT points out that Perplexity’s growth is still dwarfed by that of other top AI startups. For example, coding company Cursor has seen its ARR reach $2 billion, up from less than $100 million in 2024. Anthropic reported an ARR of $19 billion at the end of February, while OpenAI said it generated $20 billion last year.

We’d love to be your preferred source for news.

Please add us to your preferred sources list so our news, data and interviews show up in your feed.
